Hold your horses! Hasn’t Switzerland already
returned $700m, following appeals from the Nigerian government? Hasn’t nothing
already materialised from thereof, vis-à-vis the political and economic development
of the country? So, why then should an enlightened Swiss Nation collaborate
with an unenlightened World Bank to transit back some $380m (£260m) to the
Nigerian government again? It just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, and
further tallies up the inadequacy from the West (in this case, a western agency
like the World Bank) when schemes don’t suit their personal interests.
This, all boils down to “Transparency”, as said by the BBC’s Will Ross - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-31933083.
And should now also boil down to the fact that it is quite unambiguous that the
amount of corruption coursing through the Nigerian government in regards to the
fiscal/ monetary policies that they already possess is colossal, so why then should
“Transparency” of new funds be
allocated to them again, the Nigerian government? Again, common sense should be
the prevailing factor here, but once again, we just see more signs of an
African government crying wolf, and the International community turning hunter.
